anyone got any ideas of good old english side by side guns single trigger? I fancy a decent side by side but being left handed would probably have to have one cast possibly and also not too well up on english guns any info would be appreciated, makes, year of manufacture, original features any info.

Many thanks :good:

Hi I'm lefthanded to. The old SBS I shoot has a slight RH cast but not enough to cause a problem. Getting the stock re cast is not a major problem and shouldn't be expensive. I had my old Baikal done in 2009 and the local gunsith charged £30 IIRC. As for the single trigger. Not a good idea as has already been said. I shoot a semi and o/u, both single trigger and the only issue I have with the double trigger SBS is forgetting it's auto safety!

I have a 130 year old Charles Boswell london SXS with a double trigger and it really makes no difference..! most of the time i shoot with a single trigger on my O/U either way it wont bother you once you have shot it a couple of times..so my advice is get an old london SXS with double trigger..good luck

Are old english guns normally ejector or non ejector? also what sort of problems occur with the single trigger? I have never shot a double trigger gun, as for the casting of a stock I hopefully should not have too many problems, I seen a coach at the newark shooting show last year, he said my eye was virtually plumb on.

Many thanks for the advice very useful :good:

I'm lefthanded also. I use right handed SXS with double triggers. If you don't want to risk damage to an old SXS, try putting a slip-on pad first and twist it so that it compensates for the right hand cast. Usually works for me. You soon get used to double triggers. Plus it gives you a quick option for which barrel to fire first. Faster than a switch over. Also if you decide to sell the gun anytime, the market is better for right-handed guns. As you probably know!
