miroku_fan
Can anyone please confirm that the Miroku MK38 Trap has a fixed barrel selector. I have recently purchased a new one and it appears to only allow you to fire the bottom barrel first. This is a bit of a nuisance because the gun was bought primarily for sporting clays. twitchynik
Nah. My grade 1 of about 2008 vintage can choose either barrel first. Which is handy cos I bought it primarily for sporting clays.
Daieye
With the older Miroku you could chose either barrel, but the newer ones are bottom barrel only
miroku_fan
Nah. My grade 1 of about 2008 vintage can choose either barrel first. Which is handy cos I bought it primarily for sporting clays. My gun has the letters MN in the serial number which makes it a 2009 model. Mark Stone when reviewing the MK 38 Trap in Gun Mart states that it is a fixed selector stating that "...it is down to me which barrel i shoot first, not somebody sat in an office". I am a bit confused that you and some other Miroku shooters claim that the selector is not fixed and yet this review and my gun contradict this. Could the selector on my gun be faulty then? twitchynik
Give me half hour or so and I'll go dig it out of the cabinet and check the serial number and try to age it. Def select either barrel with the classic Browning/Miroku selector/safety. Got mine bored out to 1/4 1/2 and often choose top barrel over bottom. Thanks for the information.
Markio
Daft question: Have you tried putting the safety on then moving the 'selector' left or right? This is the case on my Browning O/U.
Gordon R
Just checked mine:- Miroku MK38 Grade 5 - MX 2003 - you can select either barrel. Miroku MK38 Grade 1 - MR 2007 - bottom barrel first - non selective. I thought it might be connected to the grade. I have had quite a few Miroku trap guns and the Grade 5 is the first one where barrels could be selected. miroku_fan
Daft question: Have you tried putting the safety on then moving the 'selector' left or right? This is the case on my Browning O/U. I also shoot a MK38 Sporter which has a selector which allows you to shoot top or bottom barrel first. The selector on the Trap model does move but will not shoot the top barrel first.

miroku50
Up until around 18 months ago they were selective however the more recent ones have had a modification to make them none select, as they are a trap gun and as such do not need te be selective. However it is only a small pin that prevents the selector moving across inside of the action and can be removed by a DECENT gunsmith. Gordon R
My 2007 is non selective. I am interested in the pin removal - any details, links or photos?
