Try to find an uncovered, or lightly covered area, usually in the lea of woods, hedges, treelines etc.

Any hint of green in a white landscape will attract the birds.

 

If you are careful, you could create your own green area.

We have dragged hessian sacks over the lighter covered areas, this removes a lot of snow and doesn't damage the rape.

 

Pigeons will not fly in heavy snowing conditions.

ive got a 50ft square tarpaulin and when it snows we go and peg it over rape or whatever they are feeding on then drag it off when we go in the morning and it works a treat.

some may say this is not very sporting however they seem to have mistaken me for someone who gives a damn. :):lol:

how do you mean "rubbish" that is exactly what we do and it does work.

OK this is what I do,remember this is Scotland.You need a bed sheet(white)as a cover to hide you.

Then with that ex-military net the type with brown scrim one side and green the other(green side up)put it in the killing zone with loads of deeks all over it.

Proven killer.
