adam f
Anyone shooting 17HMR use Winchester ammo? I cant find much on here about it? Picked up some from Sportsman yesterday - £8 per box vs. £14.50 for Remmington / Hornady etc - PS, it is 20gr - they said they bought a pallet of it and were shifting it cheap. steve_b_wales
I've used Winchester ammo in my rifle, and it was okay. Like most ammunition/rifles, it's good in some, and rubbish in others. I now use Hornady, which is excellent in my CZ452. Steve.
John_R
There is a lot of that Winchester 20g ammo about. I have not tried it, being hollowpoint I am not sure it'll perform as well, and there is a thread on here about that very subject.
Redgum
The 20grn Winchesters shoot really well in my CZ 16inch varmint, got a pack of 17gr but yet to try em.
Beardo
the 20gr shoot well, but it's what happens when they hit which puts people off them, they are far more likely than the 17gr BTs to pass clean through, not expand, or ricochet
Dekers
the 20gr shoot well, but it's what happens when they hit which puts people off them, they are far more likely than the 17gr BTs to pass clean through, not expand, or ricochet And until my HMR had fired 2000-3000 rounds it was not happy with 20g either, I'm still not sure why? It shoots the 20g fine now but I stick to the 17g almost exclusively. £8 x 50 is a good price just the same!
