I like the sticker idea, very good.

But can anyone answer my question about running in a new gun

(I have heard people say that a new rifles will get more accurate as they wear in, can anyone tell me how many rounds does this take? and does the accuracy improve much?)

Kip, what scope do you use because on my 8 x 56 schmidt the cross hair blocks out a 1 inch target at 150 yards

Also I see you are shooting 50g but in what cal ?

Fixed power S&B's come with hunting reticules, they will blot anything smaller than an inch at 100 yards (in the case of a 6x42) BUT they do what they should do when you are hunting.

If I was aiming at that patch with my scope I would pull the trigger when it disapeared and hope for the best

Controversial question that has been kicked around loads of times before

Some say

Clean guns shoot best.

Others say

Dirty guns shoots best.

As for running in

I would say for a factory barrel (not a lapped target type barrel) do it and clean it often when you are doing it (thers are pages and pages of stuff about this on the web)

Others say don't bother.

IF you want to run in, the way most people speed up the process (as opposed to just shooting it normally and cleaning every few months) is to shoot one round, then clean, shoot another clean (repeat about 10 times) then shoot 3 and clean (repeat about 10 times) then move onto 5 or 10 shot strings between cleaning.

the theory as i understand it goes like this:

everytime you shoot, a small amount of copper (from the bullet) get taken off by the rough patches down the barrel, once a copper build up has formed on this, very little wear will occur on this rough area. So the way to increase the 'wear' in this spot is to clean after every few shots, so the fresh copper keeps on wearing down the rough patch.

As i said this is my understanding, and i might well be incorrect, i'm sure gemini or another one of the more experianced members can give a more scientific explanation than me.
