gixer1
Hi folks, Have just picked up my 22 WMR and my local shop had 2 types of WMR ammo in stock CCI MAXI MAG HP+V and MAXI MAG TNT, I bought a few boxes of both to try out and both say 40gr and 2200FPS on the box, the only differences are the TNT box says "EXPLOSIVE" on the box  and the cases are silver instead of gold, they seem to shoot the same and the hollow point is slightly smaller where as the HP+V has a hex shaped hollw point, can anyone tell me what the major difference is in terms of what CCI may say in sales pitch? Also, what other types of ammo should i try? my local shop is going to order in so remmington BT's for me to try... Any advice greatly appreciated... willy1
I'm using CCi MAXI-MAG HP+V in my .22WMR,but on the box they are marked as 30grain, 2200fps,and they have silver cases they are a very good bullet ,fairly flat shooting,i've got mine zeroed at 100yards,and do "the bizz" on rabbits. gixer1
Alan, I beg your pardon! They are 30 grain! Sorry! So do you get a lot of ricochets with them? Regards, Gixer
willy1
Gixer, no ricochets that i've noticed, with the jacketed hollow point at those speeds they should break up on impact.I've been using Winchester 34 JHP's,but my stockist has run out of them,so bought these CCi's.Another round to try is Federal 50 grain JHP if after fox, only 1500 fps,but carry a lot of energy. gixer1
Thanks Alan, it seems there are varying responses on ricochets but I guess I'll find out soon enough! On zeroing today I didn't hear any ricochets but will see what it's like lamping later tonight. Regards, Gixer
willy1
Ok, hopefully it will be good shooting tonight. Alan

Check out some of the Ballistic tips as well! I have 500 of these surplus to requirement if you are interested, £100 TOTAL! ATB!
wymberley
Hi, Used to use the 50gr Federal but for my rifle they went to pot when they changd the spec. They're a bit pricey but if they're accurate in your rifle, WRS 40gr pack a punch (think I'm right in saying more than any other round) and are superb for fox. The BC is not great and the down range energy can be exceeded by other makes but at the range that this occurs you wouldn't be shooting fox anyway.
