humperdingle
Chaps, i'm looking for some help in identifying the side-by-side shotgun below... Only marking apart from proof marks is the word "Foreign", stamped on the R/H side. I'm thinking it's probably Spanish made, but would appreciate any solid info. The protrusion from the breech is something i've never seen in a shotgun before, but I dare say it's fairly common. Many thanks in advance. HDAV
Seen the cross bolt type action in photos, proof marks should help narrow it down a bit.

humperdingle
Have one, almost identical. It's on my ticket as 'Belgian-maker unknown'. Thanks - I thought it was probably some generic euro shotgun. It's only a wall hanger, but the curiosity of what it might be was too much. HDAV - The original proofmarks have been channelled-out during the de-act process, so couldn't picture them
Pigeon_snIPer
The protrusion from the breech is for the Greener crossbolt (is that what you were asking?) /S/
Guest cookoff013
thats german if ever i saw one, i`ve got one myself. check out the merkel 40e. its called foreign because of the anti german manufacturing from the `40s it is actually a general model, as more than one manufacture sells them. they were marketed over here in the 50`s as a simpson. not a german name, to fool the public. check out this.... http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://luxgun.ru/wp-content/uploads/rug1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://luxgun.ru/fotogalereya/ruzhya/&usg=__gOmC543ApNglwW2s3XXA_w6lGgI=&h=333&w=500&sz=157&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=aD4cxD65l2_cLM:&tbnh=126&tbnw=167&ei=O6dwTa7PMJyN4gajydy6DQ&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dmerkel%2B40e%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1276%26bih%3D819%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=114&vpy=311&dur=1797&hovh=183&hovw=275&tx=160&ty=70&oei=G6dwTcmlKoyXhQe60-VD&page=1&ndsp=30&ved=1t:429,r:10,s:0 cook. ps, they are ace. get it reconditioned or cleaned up, they are great bird guns. Thanks for the info, although the only way this one will be a bird gun is if I chuck it into the air! Does need a clean up, but I quite like the rugged look of it.
