Hi All,

Saw my farmer 'top dressing' a field of rape this morning. I'm concerned about shooting it until the nitrogen has been watered down and absorbed.

Is there any danger of chemical damage to my dogs feet on conatct with this stuff?

cheers fella's

I would not worry about it as I find that after the fert goes on its not worth shooting it as woody and his mates stay off it for a while.

If it stay as dry as it has been the nitorgen will not absorb into the crop as well if we had a shower or two.

It normally makes it bitter for a week then it turns sweet and the birds really hit it for a two week period before it gets away from them.

The only time to watch your dog is if they got a damaged pad then the nitro will drive them nuts.

You sure it was nitrogen, my farms spray with a weed killer first to get the grasses and nuisance weeds out then 2 weeks later they will nitrogen it so they are only feeding the rape and not the weeds.

the pigeons will feed straight after the weed killers gone on but it can take a little while for them to get back on once the nitrogen has gone on.
