my best ever day way 301 for exactly 500 carts in 8 hours had to stop due to running out of carts. this was on 2 day old harvested rape. i wore shorts and my legs were in agony when i got in the bath that night! the pigeons were suicidal i ended up taking my gun with me when tidying up the pattern as they were coming in with me there! i ended up with a pattern of over 100 birds too! who says big patterns dont work! im in afghan at the mo but get back in mid july fingers crossed and cant wait for the harvest! just hope its not too early! i have about 100 acres of the stuff to shoot over! matt

The only upside to this mornings efforts was seeing a pair of kingfishers and a female spar smashing my floter only to realise it couldn't have it! Lol

yeah they were unfortunately i swimming lessons so i couldnt just drop em home! kids who would av em ay?lol

finally today after a six week break i managed to get a few hours sport. after waiting on a hammered field for two hours i had five for my troubles and about 15 shots so i gave up it was **** sun in my face no birds anywhere! so i went off for a bite to eat and get some petrol and on my way home thought that i would just see if any other field of rape had been hammered with any pigeons on. to my supprise there was about 50 pigeons get of the field in two or three small groups so i thought sod it. buy this time the wind was howling and it was half one and i had to get my kids at 3 so i thought i might be able to up my average for the day. solid ground ment my DIY hide poles wouldnt go in so i just hung mmy netting up in the hedge as i had no time to fanny about making it look pretty. after a couple of minutes i had shot three for three all getting blown about massivly but still were determined to land. after 45 mins i had 12 for twelve shotss and some cracking shooting some suicidal and some flight lining! with ten minss to go before end of play i had 3 more for six shots which peed me off a bit but hey ho! one of those three came in when i was about 4 feet from my gun shoving my net into my bag i managed to walk to my gun clear as day and got it lol. well happy with it 15 for 18 shots in a hour just wish i didnt have to pick the bloody kids up ! lol wel thanks for reading just thought i would share my first good day for ages with you all as my wife doesnt care too much for hunting stories! regards matt

I've been out at half six most Sunday mornings recently. Just go on the fields near the houses! As said before just apply common sense! I had some one tresspassing to come and have a go at me a fortnight ago he scared my five year old so I told him if he didn't **** off I would call the police! There are some ****** about!

Not my recipie but very nice!!!! Pigeon pittas you need 1 pack smoked streaky bacon pigeon breasts about 8 feeds 2-4 black pudding pittas and salad chop the bacon into 1cm slices and fry off untill golden brown, then chop the back pudding into cubes and fry off. Then fry the thin slices of pigeon breast for a minute or two chuck all three ingreedients into the warm or cold pitta with the salad and bada-bing bada-bong dinner is served! Takes minutes to do and tastes ace enjoy

Well I know people that use 28g 6s through a 20 bore and nock 50-60 yard phessies and pigeons down! If you have the confidence and know your desired setup well then you can push way past 30-35 yards

Express supreme game 30g 6s use them for everything partridge high phesants in Devon decoying roosting! All sorts! I was shooting 50-60 yard phesants with them on the last day of the season! Only down side I have found is out of one box of 25 I had 13 missfires! But obviously express said that was my gun not their carts!

I shot the other week the same day as the fert went on and two hours after the tractors left I walked 200 birds off.

I have been strugling to get into double figures recently but I have started to notice that the flocks are breaking up now and that a bigger pattern is helping on my permission I think a magnet would reall help but I can't afford one at the mo!

I had 13 this morn in 2 hours. Only had 25 carts left so thought I would escape the kids for a bit! The big flocks are starting to break up my way now 2462
