hi all, took the pup out for his walk 5-30 ish just before it gets dark,so i let him off the lead ,keeping an eye on him he runs into some bushes about 30-40 yards away then i hear yelp yelp.so i run over and his left front leg snagged on 2 barbs.and he trying to pull free.which makes it worse.then i try to calm him down, while i go into panic mode, i try to unsnag him but having no luck.theres no one about,so im thinking what to do, leave him and go home which is a 5 minute walk away and pick up a hacksaw to cut the wire.anyway i notice the wire is loose at one end.so i turn him on his back and lift the wire over him ,one small tag on the wire and he comes free.thers blood all over my hands. not from him .from me  .panic over .so take him home and i cant even see where he was snagged,i thought you lucky little *****er.

from now on he will be on the lead

Hate the stuff but its a normall hazard to working dogs and you have to live with it to a degree, the pup wil now know to respect it, teach it to jump correctly and he should be fine in future. When walking my GWP likes me to hold the wire down for him but in pursuit he clears it like a roo!

Lucky it was only barbed wire. Last year I had to extract my friend's 10 year old son from a coil of razor wire he'd crawled through in the woods. That stuff has no place in the countryside. Glad your dog is ok :)

and you have to fit it above certain heights also, anyone who leaves that stuff (razor wire) lying about should be procecuted

Tell you what though the cows use barbed wire to scratch thier necks here as a result it looses all tention after a bit but the std wire strainers seem to stay tight longer! it makes me wonder if we just use barbed from habbit, there seems no difference in retaining stock and i have pulled many sheep out of the stuff when they become snagged
