Man-o-woods
What is going on? Ive this land since last november. 200 acres of rape. have been down there about 20 times and have only shot 4 pigeons. tried sitting and watching for flight lines but nothing flying. have tried mornings, midday and afternoons but nothing showing. I keep thinking I must be doing something wrong. but if there aint any pigeons I cant shoot em. any thoughts m-o-w

yickdaz
but if there aint any pigeons I cant shoot em. any thoughts m-o-w nail on the head right there thats whats wrong!!! sounds really obvious but the main factor if no birds;or few birds are using the rape then you aren;t gonna shoot many or any. unapalomablanca
Shooting over winter rape is a huge anticlimax. I have been perservering for 2 years with every bit of advice taken and every gadget and book purchased. When you first start you are just excited to be out with your gun and this lasts for a while. You then start to get a few to decoy and you think you've cracked it. Most of the time i just get cold and ****** off. My new policy is to get maximum permissions and just keep moving from field to field where there are birds. I am having very limited success with this policy. As for flightlines dont believe all the ****, birds change them all the time. The best thing to do is to go for crows aswell, roost shoot, flighting and treat decoying as a bonus if it works. When its summer decoying is much better at harvest and seems to work like magic.
