Whitebridges
Learning the ways of an SLR. So many ***** to twizzle and buttons to press. My best bird to date. Comments and help much appreciated. Thanks, gents.

poontang
I don't think you need a lot of help WB. That's a cracking shot (The only tiny thing is maybe the head is lost a little in the background, as they're similar colours?) Just as a matter of interest, how far away were you from the bird? Whitebridges
Thanks for your kind words. I've only just started taking proper pics and find it a bit of a job. For every half decent one there is loads of rubbish. Enjoying a lot though. Edited April 14, 2011 by Whitebridges

Yes, good point poontang, thanks. The bird would look more striking with perhaps a more grey/blue background. I was about 20 yards away using aa Nikon D3100 and 70-300mm zoom lens. wildfowler.250
Brilliant pic! As a rough idea, how much does it cost to get a camera that will produce pictures like this?
docholiday
Great pic, perhaps would be improved by a less severe crop so that there is "space" for the bird to move into,
Frenchieboy
Fantastic pic mate but I have to agree with Doc's last comment about maybe not cropping quite so tightly!
