Just rejoined my old club,so I`ll have to dust off the old 18 footer :)

We have a lot of the Tay at odd times of the year but as members are local, knowledge is passed down as to what time, where, water etc. so we do quite well on beats that would struggle to get guests at those times of year.

We also have our own beat as well BTW so I`m going to get the club to apply for a licence to shoot sawbills and cormorants next year(too l8 this year)

Very nice too. One of the joys of living up there I should imagine. The Tay looks a mighty fine river, not suprised you use an 18 footer. I haven't fished for salmon for a few years now, I used to go up to Grantown for a week at the end of September, we used to catch quite a few sea trout as well.

When you say sawbillls do you mean just Meganser and/or Goosander? I hear it's fairly straightforward to get a license for cormorant. If you have any difficulty it's best to flim them on your stretch of the river and use the evidence to support the application.
