Luckyshot
Had a look out yesterday with the 22. Got to the first farm at 13:00 went in to see the farmer as he had a couple of fields he leases. They are only 13 acres combined but hold a few rabbits. After showing me around them he came out with the catch the land has a public footpath running across the top off it and right through the middle of it and to complicate it even more it has holiday cottages all along one side. Apparently they don’t like people shooting the poor rabbits so he has asked me to go in when ever I am passing and shoot as many as I can . After I had finished checking out the land he asked me if I wouldn't mind giving him a hand putting up some fencing with him, no problem so off we went. 5 hours later we were just packing up with a hard days graft done. I headed off onto another farm which by now is full of lambs 1400 to be exact. I was told to concentrate on a small 60 acre field at the top end of the farm which he has seen quite a few rabbits on. The only catch with this field is that it is very rough ground and it currently the home to 20 beast. After walking up to it with 22 and scope mounted 170 I had a quick shine to see 2 beast staring straight at me :o anyway ignoring them I opened the gate and preceded to walk to the top off the field and shoot down over as I presumed the rabbits would rather bolt up over and onto the common land. Once I was at the top I could clearly see a few sets of eyes so down on the bipod and the first 3 rabbits were in the bag. After retrieving and gutting them I realised I didn’t have anything with me to carry them :( cutting a bit a bailing twine off the fence I used that to tie the legs together and over my shoulder. I walked across the top edge of the field shooting a further 15 rabbits and loosing 3 due to the thick cover and forgetting where the first one was when shooting a group of them. Carrying them back down to the Landy was quite fun as I had 15 rabbits all tied to a piece of bailing twine over 1 shoulder a 17ah battery over the other shoulder and my gun and lamp in my hands. Anyway finished the night with 15 picked up so wasn't a bad night considering.
