Mightymariner
Plenty round the Wolds too, flocks all split up but seen lots in ones and twos and smaller groups, loads feeding on edge of rape fields and other patches that have been grazed down or failed and now weeds have come through. Peas not showing many yet but if we get any significant rain I am sure the crops will grow some and start to interest the woodies. Got a day planned Tuesday on a patch of grazed rape right next to the coast where the RAF do bombing practice - should be interesting! Pigeon love
Not much around the North Wiltshire area, there was quite a few around a month ago, Seeing more crows on the two shoots I have access too at the moment. Mind you the farmer has not planted much cover crops this year, concentrating on the dairy side of the business.

Naki Boy
I know the feeling I have been sat in a hide all day and not a pigeon in sight. I am hoping there will be some more action on some fields that were drilled 2 weeks ago but need some rain.....
The Duncan
Switch to crows, magpies and other corvids guys. Woodies are mostly enjoying hedgero fayre - flower buds, young leaves etc. Bitter rape for example, is OK as a winter diet when there's *** all else to eat. The next gatherings of woodies in numbers is at harvest time. In the meantime, rabbits, corvids, rats, stoats/weasels and foxes all need controlling. Cranfield
I have been out for almost 4 hours this afternoon and shot 37 pigeons. Mostly were shot over short rape, 6 were shot on clover. Not a mega numbers session, but plenty of action to pass the time and the high winds made them decoy easier. They are out there and will be all year. Mightymariner
Spent a day on some OSR next to the coast, ending with 16 and three lost in the dunes. Plenty about and I would have had some more had they not been pounding some new drillings nearby. The piece of rape I was on has just about failed completely in the corner so I should say they will hit it continually now as there are plenty of weeds coming through.
