Vet that does tail docking

One of the old boy beaters off my shoot has a springer bitch that has just had a litter of 7 sprocker pups.

The old boy (SGC holder and shooter, beater and all round countryman) thought it would be all straight forward getting the pups docked; the pups are 100% for working, hunting and retrieving but all the usual vets round here are showing their colours as "townie" vets and have been horrified at the suggestion of any tail docking - he's been getting everything from a flat "no" to "we're calling the police"

Can anyone recommend a vet by PM.

He's a smashing old boy and quite flummoxed by all this nonsense and the response of the local vets. He thought it would all be easy to sort in the 5 days available - the last time he did it was way before the law changed.

Cheers all.

its an ethical debate and also the RSPCA certainly used to be looking for a test case for causing unnecessary suffering not sure if that is still the case now that its been clarrified though. Lots of vets just don't believe in it and its entirely their right to dock or not if you look at the small charge to do it is it worth it for them and the answer really is no in most cases.

its an ethical debate

Yep...casting my mind back to when I had my GWP's injections I asked the vet, since mine came from over the border. His opinion was that he liked dogs with tails, but at a future date if I wanted to have a litter docked he would put me in touch with someone who would.

Seems the ethic's is put before the well being of the dog, & the purpose it was bred for, if they see the well being bit the same way I do.
