wymberley
Have just been bought and have read Bucknell's 'Foxing with Lamp and Rifle'. To stop a fox, he suggests shouting, "baa". I've discovered that, "bite" does it for me. Don't think the end of the word matters, it seems to be the emphasis on the, "b" that does it. Last night, thinking about this I had all the time in the world with a fox crossing left to right 150 yards out. Shouted, "oi" a few times with no effect - this fox was on a mission (see, "Ricochet, Ricochet, Post 60, Guns and Equipment) and no way was it going to stop. "Bite", bang, whack, my mission over! Question. Why should this one "call" do it?
wymberley
No one? Haven't a clue either. Probably going to remain one more of nature's little secrets

Marty J
Oi always works for me. I've had some that were so keen to come into the call that I've had to shout twice but they all stop.
