archi
Please can you give me some feedback and you opinions on which is best for shooting high driven duck ( not the nornal floppy sort that are often see) and which chokes should be used and any preference in shot size and payload. My gun is 2 3/42 teague choked and not proofed for high sped steel - the joy of having a fancy Famars gun Heavy Shot Eley VIP Evo3 Bismuth Gamebore TMX Thanks archi
mpk
Apparently the tmx ( tungsten matrix ) are a very good cartridge. I have some bismuth carts that I will be trying this season but they are homeloads so are probably a little faster etc than cip recommendations. 34 grms of number 4 or 5 should be ok. I'm not sure but I think heavy shot may not be ideal for your barrels but I can't quite remember??? I also am using a 2 3/4 auto this coming season and will, after I have gone through the bismuth be trying the tmx ones. I will eventually by another steel proofed gun and use fast steel carts but depending on how well those tmx ones are and if the price us not to bad I may stick to them. I think they ate expensive though Edited May 23, 2011 by mpk
AlistairB
Because of a fibre only rule on our shoot, last season i used 2 3/4 Bismuth 34g 4's and they bought the duck down nicely, but they are expensive and that makes missing even harder to accept! dodeer
I'd use either Tungsten 32/36gram 3 or 5 shor OR Express Hevishot 31g 5's. With Tungsten use any choke you want and treat like lead but with Hevishot use no more than 1/2 choke.
sitsinhedges
I was given a box of ITM 32/5s for free but missing still makes me shudder at about £5 a gunful
