dan-250
Just wondering if say a 3 man tent with a camo net over it an in front of it would be ok as a hide ? I already have this as I can't afford a proper one with poles. It's dark green all over apart from a red name wrote on the side in the corner, or is a tent going to be too rustly an scare more off then get in to the decoys ? fenboy
I cant really see where it would be suitable to be honest ,if you already have the net that you would drape over the roof why not just use that ? pole do noy have to be expensive some bamboo canes will do for a start or extending washing line poles can be had for around £3 or so each which will do the job short term. Frenchieboy
If you are new to decoying and have a camo net yet you are a bit "strapped for cash" instead of buying hide poles why not just cut a few hazel sticks, they will cost you nothing except a couple of minutes affort. Unless you can stand up in the 3 man tent I personally would advise against using it mate" Just as a foot note - I bought a Nylon woven Camo Tarpauline of evilbay - It was about 12 foot X 9 foot abd cost me under £8.00. I cut it in half to make 2 pieces 6 foot x 9 foot and joined then together end to end. I now have one large camo hide which is 18 foot x 6 foot and more than big enough for 2 people. I use telescopic clothes props which I got for £10.00 for 4 of them, so a nice spacious hide for under £20.00!
dan-250
Yer I decided against it too an went into the rainy day fund so I now have a stealth camo net, a normal like camo suit an a thing a bit like a camo net poncho, hopefully this will be ok if I can get near the trees, ive also knicked a few horse electric fence post off my girlfriend
humperdingle
Just put a small hole in the net and drape it over you like a poncho.
utectok
Ponchos and shotguns don't mix IMHO can't create a smooth mount to snaggy?
humperdingle
Ponchos and shotguns don't mix IMHO can't create a smooth mount to snaggy? I suppose if you were to use a "normal" mount, yes. I get myself into a position where i'm sitting down, with the gun half mounted in my shoulder, forend of gun on my knee, so I can sit like that for ages without having to move. Try it. Last few times out i've averaged 15-20 woodies over decoys. Not fantastic but then the numbers round here aren't massive.
