roadkill
pregnant rabbits Right then tonight i have been out clearing some rabbits of two new fields that the boss man has bought . When i got home and went to gut them two of them were pregnant . Now i might be being a wuss here but do you guys still eat pregnant rabbits as it puts me off when i get a pregnant one and wouldn't really want to eat it. Only good for ferret food in my eyes. sitsinhedges
No, I must have left a hundred on the fields in the last few weeks. Milky, distended and often emaciated Cat food and that is all in my opinion.
ollie
I never eat the old or milky ones at this time of the year, they end up as ferret or dog food; I would never leave them in the field though because that is an awful waste. I only really eat the 3/4 grown bunnies at this time of the year.
Colster
Never found a difference in taste really between them. Pregnant/milky does often rather than being emaciated I find often have a bit of fat on them (over the shoulders and around the kidneys). I tend to leave the really small ones as they take almost as long to prep as a full grown (quicker to skin but more fiddly to get your hand in to pull out heart and lungs etc) but for less meat but if we're making burgers from them I'll use small ones too then. Apparently the romans used to use the fetus' in omelettes!
