beanieboy
I have the rod kit as opposed to boresnake - when I try pushing the soft head down the barrel it feels very tight and I'm afraid it might get stuck. Is this normal? should I use the brass brush first and then try the softer head? How often do you guys clean your .22lr's?

Scully
I don't clean my .22lr.I'll give the extractors and mechanism a clean when they need it,but don't bother with the barrel.
beanieboy
Good to know chaps - have just ordered some Parker hale 009 from ebay - will just clean action and exterior metal work and leave inside barrel alone for now. Thanks for advice.

Sorry I should have been clearer. I have never cleaned the inside of the barrel. The action and outside of the barrel gets a wipe with an oily rag after every outing and I have stripped the bolt a couple of times.
