best kit for the job??

If there's not a misprint here, get the biggest cannon that you can afford. You're not going to have any trouble with 300 yard foxes and I can quite well see that at 704 yards a.........

Seriously though, there's a couple of us just down the road in Exmouth, one who shoots 17HMR, who would welcome the chance to see you in action.

sweet 17

range finder

we will see ur answer

My permission is just down the road from there,And I too also have loads of bunnies to shoot. I didn't say i doubted you, i said i would love to see a shot like that... I have always thought that I was a reasonable shot, but i would say a shot of that distance with a 17HMR would be out of my leauge to kill something, now !!! if we were talking of something like a 22Hornet or 222 then i could happily pull the trigger,

also..sandybay is quite a windy place being on the south facing coast

Oh I love the weekend, especially when the parents have gone out and left the child lock off the computer. Does anyone on this forum actually go shooting or you lot just flicking to and fro from this forum and soft porn sites :hmm:

There are lots of reasons why even experienced rifle men should not be taking 275yd shots with a hmr on a live target but I don't think I will bother stating them, Yawwwnnnn I'm going back to my hammock.:lol:

After 10 years at St Point there's not as many as there was particularly compared to the 50s. Problem is, at my age and with my eyesight at 275 yards I can't tell the difference between a small holiday maker and a larger rabbit.

OK, just for Red and Jim.

St. Point is a RMs rifle range stuck on the end of Sandy Bay, a promontory near Exmouth. I have shot countless rabbits on the range to avoid broken/twisted ankles while recruits are carrying loaded rifles during training. Sandy Bay itself is one massive holiday park (caravans) where the rabbits are not shot (cough, cough) because the holiday makers like to see them.

I don't think Sully will be of the Gecko clan. We did have them in Devon, but they were exterminated; the last one killed by a poisoned teat shortly after its 17th birthday in1837.

Cheers

PS It's stopped raining here and I have to chrono the Hornet.

So your sending off for your FAC yet your experience at shooting 275yd rabbits, mmmm reminds me of when I was kid, used to dream of being an astronaught, and poor old Alice just hung around drinking tea with large rabbits and a pack of living cards. What a wonderland it all was back then, then I grew up and got my FAC.
