Laird Lugton
So I'm looking to purchase a Silver Pigeon 1 as the review says they are great value for money. The question is which one? Sporter or Game? Most of my shooting will be clays with a bit of game shooting/wildfowling.
Gnome of the Woods
From what I have seen and heard the sporter is the one to get. Best of both worlds.
Spiderdude
I've got sporter... See my recent post regarding the quality of it...
Spara Dritto
just traded in my SP1 28" game for SP1 Sporter 30" but paid a little more as it was part exchange. I'm very happy! I wanted a sporter as I was doing far more clays then game and I like the rib/weight. Edited July 16, 2011 by Beretta Italy

COACH
Has to be a 30" sporter every time. I have one that I use for tuition and its great but I use it for everything.
Spiderdude
Magnet, Coach, Either of you had rusty oil leaking from the seam on top barrel or under the top barrel where it joins the block?
RC45
I prefer a wide rib, like the Sporter models. However, I had a Silver Pigeon and did not like it. I would suggest try a couple of different manufacturers.
Laird Lugton
Spiderdude, glad I read your posts as I was going to part with cash tomorrow. Now I'm not so sure.....
Vinny v
These really are excellent guns and well priced but seems that a good overall check is advised before parting with any hard earned cash. V

Better built guns for the money

Laird Lugton
Thanks for the hints & tips. I parted with cash for a Silver Pigeon 1 Sporter with 30" barrels. Very nice gun!
Spiderdude
All the best with it... Go stick 100 carts through it and let me know if it leaks. Ta
Laird Lugton
I fired 50 through it this morning, nothing so far :look: Do you have a "fleur de lis" or "STEEL SHOT" mark on your SP1 to show it's proofed for magnum loads?

SP1 should have 3" chambers and be proofed for steel.
Spiderdude
No idea not checked, but as it's the brand new silver pigeon 1 I would expect it to have.
Thunderbird
Magnet, Coach, Either of you had rusty oil leaking from the seam on top barrel or under the top barrel where it joins the block? Interesting. I own the 30" sporter and have had what I would also call rusty oil on the seam at the underside of the chamber of the bottom barrel. I just wiped it off whilst cleaning it and didn't really pay it too much attention. Should I be? What is this problem you had?
