Magus69
Cheers for the advice chaps!,but this is a job that I have done before and am more than capable. The thing is the old fella that taught me has long since past away and the solution(s) he gave me have long since been used up. I have used the stuff sold by Peter Dyson and found it to be very slow rusting compared to the stuff I had passed to me years ago. So if anybody does know a good reasonably priced browning solution please sing out. Mike...

Paddy Galore!
Although i'm sure some of the suffolk contingent would put some "brown" on your barrels for free.
barrel browner
I am aware of the Dyson formula, the usa have several but they will not post to the uk,I mix my own these days as the chemists of yesteryear are all gone and none seem interested making up these solutions anymore,E.J Blackley do a slow rust brown for £15 but I have never used it, you have to be carefull with a lot of the formulas as some contain Mercuric chloride, I would advise anyone to stay clear of anything with that stuff in it. Cheers for the help fella I'd forgotten all about Blackleys that's where I got my chequering tools from. I knew someone would come up with what I was after eventually put anything to do with browning or re-browning in google and it comes up with a googol of pages referring to Browning the gun manufacturers.
