Gnome of the Woods
Just a couple of quick ones! The previous owners liked shiny! The damaged fore end has been stripped of the lacquer and I will start oiling it tomorrow. The dents and scratches came out better than expected Should look fantastic once I have the woodwork up to scratch!

HDAV
Nice engraving on the action not seen that on a 686 before is it the same on the otherside?
Gnome of the Woods
Yes, highly detailed all over. The SP II is a 687 which I am led to believe means a higher spec finish!
HDAV
Might explain why i havent seen a 686 like it! What was the damage if you dont mind me asking?

Sinistercr0c
Not sure, but I don't think its 687 silver pigeon II, they have a gold circular inlay on the action above the trigger guard like so: The standard of the engraving on yours is also better than on the 687's. I have the silver pigeon III and the depth of the engraving (for rolled on)is nowhere near what you have. I stand to be corrected however..... Gnome of the Woods
I had some help bargaining because I am rubbish at it. But I ended up paying £950 for it which was over 10% off the ticket price. I have finished a few walnut air gun stocks, so took the view I could do the woodwork myself and save even more Ben, very good

According to the date stamp, if I have the right letters it was made in 2000. So it may have changed over the years. The pic on the Beretta website is not clear enough to see! SP II This is the same as mine as far as I can tell! SP II sport I stand to be corrected too as a newbie!
Sinistercr0c
You are indeed spot on....it is a 687 Silver Pigeon II. I can't access the Beretta website from work but found this on an American site... http://www.csmcspecials.com/P_BERETTA_687_SILVER_PIGEON_II_12ga_shotgun_p/20116.htm Very pretty gun, the engraving knocks spots of mine.... GP1
I have the same model and as said the engraving is very good, is your stock nice as well ?
Gnome of the Woods
I will find out in the next couple of weeks! It was covered in lacquer and dents and scratches  I am just refinishing the fore end with a CCL oil finish, once this is done I will work on the stock when I have a window of opportunity! I think yours may well be a nicer stock than mine though.
