chesterjester
Hi, I have just bought my first 12b o/u to use on clays, which is a multichoke. I hear some people say put your chokes in and forget about them? Could you advise a beginner what chokes I should use? I have Cyl, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, Full. I normally shoot bottom barrel first if this helps. You help is much appreciated
Gordon R
1/4 bottom barrel - half in the top.

apache
I got a second 1/4 and almost never change them. Was breaking a crosser at ~45 yards consistently last week - more than capable.
HDAV
Depends what your shooting Skeet then Cyl + 1/4, Trap 1/2-3/4 and 3/4-full sporting 1/4-1/2 i use 1/4 and 5/8 but 1/4-1/4 would be fine (in fact i have no idea which way round they are or care) Edited June 18, 2011 by HDAV
Bango
I'll third that with Gordon & Mal
Beretta28g
I think APACHE'S idea is the best get another quater choke, that will be more than enough for the average person in my view. Hoewver, if you are a beginner id go open and quater to give a slightly better chance of hitting something. Finally dont forget them they need regular maintainance to be esily removeable. every time you clean the gun clean and lube the choke tubes too. Hope this helps
ChrisAsh
First of all we need to find out if he is using lead or steel, very dangerous suggesting anything over half if using steel Edited June 18, 2011 by ChrisAsh
chesterjester
Thanks for the advise so far! Only use lead shot, so can use all my chokes. Cheers All
Dr_T
1/4 and 1/2 usually. 1/4 in top barrel (first shot) since it's a quicker reload in an over and under.

HDAV
Full and Full Olympic Trap? Universal Trench? Late season geese in places you can use lead? Turkey Huntin?
Sx3 clay breaker
I use quarter for almost evething but I use a semi so can only use one choke at a time
Vinny v
I use a quarter in the bottom and half in the top and fire bottom first. As mentioned before, don''t forget to remove and clean the chokes every time you clean the gun. V
