ellebarto
I usually shoot from the Landy but just of late there are a few pesky foxes that need dealing with and I want to lay up for them somewhere and need to battery power my Lamp. I can see that there are various options out there and in theory I will be out for 3.5 hours and will be switching the light on and off over that period so perhaps 2 hours max of continous use. My question is what Amp battery will I need to accomplish that? A 4Ah Lithium costs about as much as a 10Ah Lead and if all I need for that amount of time is a 4Ah then I'd probably go for the newer battery! oscarsdad
Also be careful with lithium batteries as if they are dropped, pierced or water gets into them they will vent a thick White smoke which is not particularly pleasant or safe to breath in! wymberley
In VERY round figures. If you have a 12 volt system and a 50 watt bulb you will pull 4 amps so your lithium will last an hour. If you have a 170 with a 100 watt bulb it follows that you're down to half an hour. So for 50 watts you need your 10Ah lead. Am sure you've sussed the 100. One way around it if you're not talking real distance is to marry up the lithium with an LED lamp. Of course, you could have bought the N550 No problem to sort! You still getting on well with the 550 then? I just coudlnt get past the size of the scope and the lack of magnification but I guess I really needed to see it in action. Since I last spoke to you Ive been through ND3 lasers, NV Scope Add on monocles and they have all been rubbish compared to a trusty, if ungainly lamp! Spent a lot of time, money and effort to end up back where I started!!!

Billy.
Just keep a small battery (7ah) in the footwell and hook up a cigarette lighter socket onto it. Pop the lamp out and plug it in the battery and stick it in your pocket. It should last you for a little while. Edited June 21, 2011 by Billy.
