Whilst pigging around with a mates motorbike, trying to find out why it wont start,I left the petrol tap in the "prime" position which has allowed fuel to run down thru the carbs-into the inlet manifold and down into the engine itself.I have emptied over 3 gallons of petrol/oil mix thru the drain plug but i,m worried about engine damage-anyone any ideas?

Personally if it's running well I would strip it down clean it and re oil the oil pump and bearings etc to be on the safe side as the Petrol will strip what lubrication the oil provided from the moving parts :hmm:

Effectivley if the petrol got into the bearings cleaned off the oil and it evaporates it leaves dry metal surfaces which ideally need to be oiled pretty much the same as when you fit new big end bearings in a car.

If you can't be bothered then find the lightest oil you can to fill the engine remove the plugs and crank it over for a good period of time to try and get the thin oil into the bearings etc to make sure they are lubed up.

Then drop the light oil fill up with the recommended spec oil and see how it goes :look:
