ajm1979
Had a drive around some local farms again on my day off last week on Thursday. Decided just to pop leaflets into letter boxes on some farms rather than disturb them while busy with sillage etc, obviously if I bumped into someone in the farm yards was a chance for a chat. Just had a nice phone call from a farmer saying his is plagued by crows and to get myself down. Popping along tonight for a look around and get a permission slip filled in Hopefully it will lead to other things!
fo5ter
Well done! Yesterday I posted 25 letters to local farms, just waiting for the dissapointment now I'm trying to get into foxing but I only have rabbit permissions. Do any east midlands foxers out there need an accomplice?

Bowen20
get a good crow caller it really pays off well. and make sure you cannot be seen by the crows as they are easily spooked by the littlest thing. they arent as easy as pigeons to shoot. soreshoulder
not knocking letters or cards but the best way is to go for a chat
Spiderdude
not knocking letters or cards but the best way is to go for a chat Fully agree, but when time is limited and for the sake of a few quid in postage and a letter & business card it is the easiest way. To hit the same amount of farms in person is just not feasible, if you get one or two responses then it makes the little outlay worthwhile. If you get no response, then target another area with a different style of letter and then maybe every few months mail the orginal ones. (Maybe even offer them a few quid.... ) Once the addresses are in a spreadsheet, a mailmerge takes minutes unlike the sticking them in envelopes. I've now got 300+ farms in my spreadsheet and I'll keep adding to that over the next few months, until I have got all of them within a 35 mile radius of home stored. I should add, best of luck hope you get plenty of replies...... Edited June 22, 2011 by Spiderdude
ajm1979
I've done a posted mailshot, but have now started driving round some farms and hand delivering leaflets, to be honest I don't really want to bug them whilst they are busy but if I drive up to the farmyards and there is someone kicking about its an easy way to chat by saying I had just popped round to deliver a leaflet etc. The phonecall this morning is from a farm that had no post box, just slid my details between some sliding doors. I will start knocking on the doors closer to winter when I have more time on my hands, by then they will have all been mailshot and had a letter delivered.
