Dunkield
What are you after specifically Mick? not being thick I am not quite sure what you mean by rig? I fly fish for trout, as do a few others on here by the sounds of it, I float fished for them once in the States years ago but I have never done it here. red_stag88
It's any help, I caugt one on a white lure (in the fly fishing sence rather than the pike sence). right at the bottom fished fast. 8ft of 6lb florucarbon. If your not worried about being caught. Two red maggots on 6lb line. size 16 hook. Dead on the bottom. Fead it up a bit. Little and often mate and you'll have plenty of dinner. iamspartacus
I do a fairbit of flyfishing, though the type of 'rig' really does depend on the type of water and the time of year you'rE fishing. This time of year most trout fishing is on resevoirs and lakes, all lures mainly green and black or blood worm imitation. IAS
red_stag88
Very simply, White or black lures on the bottom. Fished fairly fast. I did see a guy catching well using that bung method.
old rooster
I used to work in County Clare and while there used to fish for the wild brown trout in the little boggy lochs of an evening. Fantastic solitude on a scale you'd never find in the UK nowadays. My favourite method was to use a bushy dry fly on my dapping rod. You'll need a bit of floss and some breeze if you need to fish out in the open water a bit, in the margins it was a deadly method and seemed to pick out the bigger fish. Many an evening I'd get back to my digs to fry up some very tasty brownies for a bit of supper. If the method is of any interest I'm quite happy to offer more info and advice. fert
nothing better than seeing fish take your dry fly
chewyjack.22
nothing better than seeing fish take your dry fly Got to agree, especially if tied with a bit of cul-de-carnard, the fly looks huge on top of the water
Lord Geordie
I used to Lure and Bait for Trout Mepps Spinners or their derivatives work well as did Lobworm Sweetcorn Maggots Brandling worm etc I used that Patse too (can't remember the name) you just roll it between your fingers and round the hook (powerbait i think it was called) As for floating for trout i just used Bubble floats and had the bait a few inches from the bottom.
