Steve'o
It`s actually a mix of the two. Semi auto`s are set up to use 70mm or bigger but will easily shoot a 65-67mm if the cartridge has a lot of recoil. The fact is that the Comp X has a powder mix that gives it very little recoil with excellent killing power and speed. A few Auto`s will use them but not without the occasional jam. A few of the older Auto`s will also use them because of the wear the gun has had making it loose so helps the mechanism work without friction anywhere. My Benelli Vinci and Beretta Urika 2 keeps jamming with them, where as my brothers old Beretta Teknys will cycle them easily because its been used for hundreds of thousands of 32g pigeon loads which has loosened it right up. Best bet is to take them back and replace them with something that kicks like a mule. No need for something that kicks like a mule use Hull Intercomp 28g Fibre in my Escort cycle no problem as u saw when I meet u and your brother at that charity shoot a few months back Cheers Steve

sodit
I don't think it's only because of length, the comp x cartridges are soft as hell and I don't know anyone that uses them successfully in a semi. My Beretta Urika 391 cycles comp x 21gram no problemo until the piston disassembled itself when the circlip came off!! Then switched to a couple of 28grams my mate had then back to 21gram eleys (didnt know of problem until I went to clean it) and it worked ok for the rest of the session! Mind you the spring in the butt probably needs changing :o Edited July 2, 2011 by sodit

phaedra1106
Tried both of mine again this morning, with 2 in the mag they both come out together every time, gas cycled or hand cycled, very strange. With 1 in the chamber and 1 in the mag they cycled no problem, you can feel the cycling being a lot slower than with Eley 1sts (also 28g). They do shoot very nicely in the O/U though
HDAV
Sounds like what I call a "tolerance incompatibility" everything is in it's own tolerance but put the 2 together and it doesn't work!
