Recommend a Ferret book

Could someone recommend a good book on ferrets and ferreting. Just looked on a site and there are quite a few and was wondering if anyone on here had read any decent books and found them useful.

I had bought for me "Ferrets for Dummies". OH DEAR! Its an american based book and using ferrets to hunt is illegal over there, which i didnt know! In all fairness there was some good stuff in the book about health and care, but obviously nothing about working ferrets. So wasnt quite what i was looking for!

So what would you recommend?

Cheers

'Complete Guide To Ferrets' by James Mckay, and 'Ferrets and Ferreting' by Ian C Rickard are both very good comprehensive guides to keeping ferrets.

'Ferreting, An Essential Guide' by Simon Whitehead is also very good with more emphasis on working aspects. It also has some cracking photos.

All are available on Amazon.

If you plan keep ferrets in a court and build one from scratch its hard to find a detailed design as everyone has their own ideas. But its easy to build in lots of little design flaws that will have you tinkering and modifying for ages to get things right for you and the ferrets.

If you go this route and need any help or tips don't hesitate to ask.

A guy called Graham Welstead wrote a book on ferreting that is to date the best i have ever read and that was maybee thirty years ago you might get one second hand perhaps?. Plumer also wrote a good one though it was never his way to go into practically tutorials, it is non the less a good read as are all the Brain Plumber books. I havent been bowled over by any of the new writers on ferrets, the old crowd learned thier craft pre-mixy and pre- indicators and i feel that made them better for it. Too much digging goes on these days imo, i was always taught to avoid it

Wotcha

I have a copy of the 'Complete Guide To Ferrets' by James Mckay surplus to requirements - thumbed once as far as I can remember.

You are welcome to it for the price of the postage or pick up if passing through Oxon?

If interested email.

Cheers

THE FERRET AND FERRETING GUIDE - GRAHAM WELSTED

Bought it over 30yrs ago still got it. I often use it for reference if I come across anything unusual, failing that I Google!!! :) I don't know if it is still in print but you can still get copies.
