Tyke
I am hoping to take my first foray pigeon hunting soon and I would like a little help with what decoys I should take. I will be shooting from a hide with an air rifle and have been told to get full-bodied decoys, as they are better for attracting and holding birds on the ground. Any information will be gratefully received.

1 of 5
I use full bodied and last Sunday I got 2 land in the pattern inside an hour when i wasn't paying sufficient attention and 3 more that almost certainly would have landed if they hadn't been shot down first (again in an hour) It was very quiet that day with the pigeons only coming along in singles. MAJ
At this time of year I don't think the birds expect to see large flocks, and on my last couple of outings I've got away with three dead birds from the freezer, two on cradles and one on the floater. If using artificial deeks, I prefer the full bodied. You'll get more sport if you leave the air rifle at home, and arm yourself with a shotgun. BigDave15
Well im thinking about getting some Flexicoys. I havent been out on my own yet so I dont need to own my own decoys. But im 15 now so when I get my ShotGun cert Im gonna need my own when Im out on my own. Alright Flexicoys are expensive but Im only going to need a few I can always use some shot birds to. If you have got the money I would go for the Flexicoys.
