12borejimbo
SHot these the other night, 1st one, went into the meadow, big huge field with a wood in the middle, turned the lamp on and a pair of eyes shone, thought it was one of the cows as 30 had just been moved onto the field, then the eyes went, called, and the eyes came back into view ontop of the hill, wouldnt come and it was a risky shot, so carried on with the rabbits. Drove round the field on the quad, shot 2 bunnies, coming back and thought, just have another look, there he was sitting about 50 yards away, pulled the rifle up, aimed, crosshair on head........click, couldnt of happened at any other time, luckily I bolted up again quickly and quietly, as he just turned I drilled him right through the neck with the HMR, a nice pop and watched him in the scope, didnt even twitch. Well developed young dog fox. Next one was in the adjacent field, drove into it, shone the lamp down the valley and there was movement crossing the big meadow into a wheat field at about 150 yeards away, called, just looked, so drove around the field to get out of scent, and started calling my my hand and mouth. Quick look with the lamp, pair of eyes crossing the field the way it came, was trying to get round me, strated doing a really quick call and it came in, but was very edgy, everytime I put the lamp on it would back away about 20 yeards, did this 3 times, on the 4th, I knew what game we where playing, got ready with the rifle in one hand, lamp in the other, flicked it on, watched it run for 10ish yards, stopped to look, bad choice, crack....thump right in the chest at 70 yards. A young Vixen. Next field, I drove round the farm and after half an hour I went back into the field I shot the first one in, saw another flick of eyes, but at about 200 yards right on the horizon on the outside of the wood. Called, but was very very lampshy, wise old thing, did a full skirt round the field and did atleast 180 degrees around me to get a smell. Couldnt get a shot off, on calling I saw yet a 4th pair of white eyes, but this one didnt hang about, had work early in the morning and it was midnight, so called it a day after going into the field it retreated to but no joy. " foxes and 16 rabbits, not bad atall. First 2 pics are the dog fox, second is the vixen, quite messy feet and she layed in her own blood, literally folded up on the spot with her legs under her. Hope you all enjoyed the write up and pictures.

12borejimbo
top work jimbo well done the rifles looking smart. let me no how the tail turns out you will need a stick of some sort to replace the bone or something along them lines Cheers Andy, im probably going to leave it with nothing in so its quite flexible, its been in a jar of meths for 2 days now, probably leave it a week and then hang it on the washing line or wash it with shampoo. Hang it up over the fireplace. Ive shot loads of foxes, but this one had a lovely tail, as soon as I saw it I thought ive got to take this one off.
