:lol:right so good quality hollow point that's accurate as hell will do the job better. could some one recommend a good accurate pellet. i am seeing the light in more accurate pellets to penetration i would rather hit the rabbit witch will still kill it than have a less accurate pellet with more penetration but less chance to actually hit it :good:

:lol::lol::lol:

:lol::hmm::lol:

Absolutely, simple fact is Hollow Point and accuracy are never mentioned in the same sentence with pellets! And HP don't penetrate well if they expand well.

Forget them and use a decent domed pellet, it will give you the best balance of accuracy and penetration.

If you hit the cranium (brain case), penetration levels make no odds. You need consistent accuracy to hit the brain box.

Ha Ha, which book have you been reading, so if I threw a stone at you and it bounced off your Cranium you would die? Seems hardly worth buying a 12ft lb if penetration levels make no odds. Stick to your BB and shoot them 50 yards away...oh yes, and just what was it you shoot in the (brain case)? :lol::lol:

A happy balance with accuracy? really?

Each to there own, that's what makes life so interesting.

I'm struggling to understand what many of you are talking about, the most accurate pellet in the world is useless unless it can deliver sufficient energy into the quarry at POI.

hence..............

Accuracy is useless without penetration!

You must get a happy balance of both!

:hmm: i think what the trying to get at is if you have a more accurate pellet but less penetration its still going to hit the quarry with enough force to kill i.e if you hit a rabbit with the less penetrative pellet it will still crush the scull. your getting less penetration but your getting the add bonus of having that bit extra accuracy. :D Edited by thompson

Sorry, have to disagree as penetration is not the issue, it's the accuracy and amount of energy transfered that matters. If I use a priest to dispatch something it doesn't penetrate at all! A soft .25 pellet hitting a a rabbit's cranium will kill it - possibly without penetrating at all, whereas a hard .177 pellet into a rabbit's chest could zip straight through leaving it able to run far enough to loose it down a hole to die later.

Obviously, the more power you have the less accurate you need to be.

Dekers - horse poop specialist.

Do grow up!

If the stone is travelling fast enough, it will penetrate. That is more to do with velocity than penetration.

If you shoot a bunny in the cranium accurately with a dome head, hollow point, pointed or wadcutter, it dies immediately, numb nutts. :lol:
