Steve177
After finally waiting over a year for a permission, i finally have landed one The land owner wants them gone, as they are digging up his lawn as fast as he can fill in the entrances to the warrens, so has given me free roam of the garden whenever i wish to shoot :yp: . So my question is, what is the best time to shoot at,daytime, night-time, sunset, sunrise? unfortunately i work from 3pm untill around 10pm, so sunset shoots are out I have one of the little BSA lamp kits that sit on top of the scope, and that seems to highlight them nicely out to 40 yds. I am allowed to build a hide as well, as long as its tucked away. and after looking at the garden i think i have found the perfect place, tucked beside a wooden fence, beside a green bush. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated. Steve

Steve I'd suggest visiting at different times to see what sort of shifts your rabbits are on, Some people get loads in the day time, other like mine are not up and about until evenings and some not until after its proper dark. Vary the times at which you shoot and the locations from which you shoot as they do seem to wise up. Your little BSA lamp sounds just the job as 40yrds is about right if your using an air rifle, you'll possibly find when its 'proper dark' that you'll get the reflection of eyes further out than 40yrds, in which case, switch off and move in closer and re light. kent
How big is it?if small the lamp will not make things much easier. its hard to say but i should prefer break of light sit still don't pick up till your going. you dont need much of a hide for rabbits but you do need to be within range and down wind
Steve177
Thanks for the prompt replies guys. Went down tonight after work, arrived around 10:30, got meself sorted, into the field, had a quick look around with the torch, and they scattered like i had been jumping up and down, shouting. Settled down for about 10 minutes, then in quick bursts of the lamp, scoured the area, seen a few pricks of light, which i knew were eyes, but none within range. waited again for another 10 minutes or so, and tried again, a few were in range, but as soon as the light hit the first one, they scattered I'm using an unfiltered light, as i have lost the red filter "D'oh". Am planning to down tomorrow during the day for a wee looky see. Am i doing anything wrong? Again, thanks for the prompt replies Steve
