pg123
Twice over the last couple of weekends my gun (s/hand Webley & Scott)has mis-fired on the second shot. I have only had it a few weeks so took it back to the shop and they have sent it to the gunsmith to be checked over. I have been buying 21g carts because there only just over £35 for 250 where i shoot my clays. The guy in the shop said that the mis-fire could be lack of recoil from the light load not moving the inertia switch on to the upper barrel. Has anyone heard of this before??? HDAV
Its posibble especially on a new gun that may be a tad stiff however i would expect it to cycle work on 21g what carts? CompX? 28g arent much more £3 a slab? run a couple of slabs of 28g through it then try the 21 again?

Spara Dritto
Are you completely releasing the trigger after the first shot? I did that before, It's easily done on fast pairs or when you miss with your first shot. If you take your finger off the trigger completely after the second shot (that didn't fire) then pull the trigger again, does it fire? If so you are not releasing the trigger. I think this is called "Trapping"? Edited July 25, 2011 by Beretta Italy
VicW
21gm cartridges not cycling the second barrel in o/u's is a known problem. It can be the make of cartridge,I know one shooter who gets the problem with Hull CompX but not with Eley's. My old Nikko doesn't like 21gm,at first I thought it was me not releasing the trigger,as was mentioned, but it stopped doing it when I went back to 28gm's. Vic. HDAV
Yeah the brand will matter in these circumstances but as its a new gun it may be fine once you have run a few thousand through the mechanism. My 525 runs 21g no issue as do most guns, especially the clay ground loaners that have had hundreds of thousands through the chambers but as new ones they can be a bit sticky. I bought the gun secondhand. The carts are Eley. Had misfire using both 21 and 24g carts when I have thought about it. Both times it has been my mates shooting the gun not me so can't be 100% sure about not releasing the trigger.... cant see two blokes having the same problem. COACH
All of the above are quite common. How ever both Webley Scott and Bettinsoli's are renowned for those type of problems as well as others. The non release of the trigger is very common with a new shooter as well. Squeeze the trigger with the center of the 1st pad on your finger, that's the one with the nail on it. NOT with the second pad or even with the joint between them. This will cure the problem if it's a non release problem. It's also the correct way to shoot anyway. I would blame them then or at least keep an eye on it while you run through the rest of your carts
