Hi all iv been looking on eBay at rifle scopes and have seen some leupold ones. There are two main dealers that are selling them and they are much cheaper than over here even with the postage (typically 25-50 us d) my question is has anybody bought a leupold scope like this and what was there experience.my hesitation is that I know leupold is faked by some countries but the address for these two sellers on eBay are both in America. I have read all the feed back from there customers and it's very good with people in France and Germany on there. Am I being a scardy cat !!!

my mate brought one from america on ebay and its great, the only thing is you can get hit with import taxes by customs unless you are lucky and its gets through.

thats the only thing stopping me getting one from there, also if it is fake, im sure you can report it through ebay and paypal and get you money back?? dont quote me on this though

Just worked it all out, and the end price is £520 door to door that's for a brand new leupold 4.5-14x50 with 30mm tube and all the other bells and whistles. I can't find a price for this scope over here but a 4.5-14x50 with a 1 inch is £850 - £905 on most uk websites. And that price is if they charge me import tax and duty but hopefully it will slip through!! So it might be even cheaper THAT WILL DO NICELY

There were a few new ones being punted on ebay for that money,

Else it's looking like £600 http://www.uttings.co.uk/Product/543/106370/zeiss-duralyt-3-12x50-rifle-scope-52-54-21-9906

Or have a word with the OP on this thread, as he seems to be able to get his hands on them quite easily ;) - Think he's also on here?

The reticule (no6) looks pretty fine to me.

You may be able to pick up a Zeiss Conquest from the US. They use German lenses but are assembled in the US to get around import taxes. They are priced about the same as the equivalent Leupolds. The euro snobs will probably turn their noses up, but for the money they are in my view a better scope dollar for dollar than the Leupolds. I dont think the warranty is a patch on Leupolds though. Mind you Leupold are cracking down on grey imports. In Canada warranty work has to be carried out by their authorised repair facility in Okotoks. If you try and get one fixed now that was not imported through their offical network they wont do it and you have to ship it back to the US with all the aggro that entails.

The thing is with the ziess are the reticles there too thick and block out to much of the picture. Were can you get them for £500 gal ?

Conversley, Leupold are often too fine loosing definition in low light (you can see your quarry ok but not the intersection of the cross hair). I dont us Ziess personally prefering s+bender robustness but have leupold and s+bender on almost an equal basis for long range small quarry in good light the Leupold has the edge but at larger quarry low light the German stuff is superiour to my mind
