Mungler
Long story short I have a client who was sent text messages about 9 months ago and we need to retrieve them, problem is his iphone (where he had thoughtfully kept and preserved them) crashed out 3 weeks ago and the kid up the road fixed his phone with some sort of factory reset. It's not a criminal matter and it's a fairly run of the mill civil dispute about money - the text messages would have been a slam dunker. Orange have said that there is no way to get those texts, however, I have been involved in a criminal case where the police got *everything* for a particular number going back years and years. So, I think Orange will mug first callers off just to avoid the cost and aggro of getting wrapped up in all manner of minor personal disputes. Now then, this is a civil matter and the police won't be involved. So whilst I know they could get the texts, that's not going to happen. Does anyone work in the mobile industry and who can give me a steer? The alternative is to get the client's phone looked at to see what can be recovered - but I've done it before with computers and it's mind bending expensive. Cheers all. Spiderdude
Definitely can be done, just got to know the right person at the phone company. If you have contacts within a good PI company, they can also get this info... But it will cost a fair few quid!

Bagsy
on a serious note, did your client do regular backups of the phone to his computer, I'm sure this includes text messages?
Vipa
on a serious note, did your client do regular backups of the phone to his computer, I'm sure this includes text messages? Agreed, every night when i plug my iphone into my pc to charge it syncs and backs everything up... he could just use his plug that came with it tho :-/
