Frenchieboy
I went out yesterday evening to assess a piece of land that I have been asked to do a rabbit clearance job on. The land only consists of one field about 7 acres in size and a piece of woodland the same size. Looking at the land I have concerns that I will not be able to shoot in the woods as it is fairly dark and sheltered and there is a public foot path running through it. I certainly don't want to be out bunny bashing there and find a dog walker or rambler taken by surprise. To add to the problems the field has a main road running parrallel with it which has residential houses on the far side of it. This restricts me to shooting from the middle of the field away from the road. The one thing in my favour there is that it runs downhill and has a perfect bachstop at the bottom of it. Anyway, I took the "Hummer" with me and laid up in the middle of the field on top of a grassy mound to see how things panned out and what ditection the rabbits tended to come from. It seems that they come from either the woods or the opposite end of the field and feed all over the field. In the 40 or so minutes I was lying there I shot 5 rounds from the "Hummer", at ranges fropm about 80 yards out to 140 yards - All of them hit home and all of them were head shots. The result was 5 less bunnies to worry about! The photo shows the 5 that I shopt after being gutted. I have tried to arrange them so that the pictures were not too "graphic" after the 17g Red Tips had done their job. The one thing that I will say is that after they were skinned they were some of the biggest rabbits I have seen in this area! Edit: Just as a foot note, there are loaqds of the furry critters running around that one small field! Frenchieboy
well done buddy fine job is lamping not possible i know one of my perm does,nt like lamping Unfortunately because the "Anti" neighbours are so close to the field lamping would most likely draw more attention from them than I would like so it is down to the summer evenings, which suits me fine. I am quite happy lying in the long grass on a nice warm, summer evening with a cold bottle of squash waiting for the bunnies to come out to play!
