Catweazle
Red Ken is no wittering that these young men don't have a stake in society. Apparently they are unemployed, with no prospects of a job, and have a wife and kid to support. I'm surely not alone in seeing the irony here ? Society is feeding them and their family already. Isn't that enough to make them grateful to society ? If they want more stake then they should get involved in voluntary work for their community, build some respect through effort. LEFTY478
Hey, it's not all bad news. A spokesman for the Met has confirmed that arrests for drink-driving, residential burglary and domestic violence are the lowest since 1945. Heilan Coo
All the water cannon equipped riot vans are in NI apparently. What about using the fire engines they have on RAF bases, blast from those would do the trick. Edited August 9, 2011 by Heilan Coo
ack-ack
Had no idea it was this bad. Bet theres a few ailing business owners heading off out into the night with their shop keys in one hand and the lighter fuel in the other.
Zapp
In theory, yes. Deploying troops on British soil requires some very detailed planning and paperwork with very clearly defined boundaries before it can happen. The COBRA meeting tomorrow will no doubt scope it as an option and then start the ball rolling if it is deemed viable. EDIT: Hang on, did you mean the Green Goddesses? I think they all got sold. Catweazle
I just remembered, insurance policies I have seen normally have an exclusion for civil disturbance or riot, so the poor residents who have lost homes / shops / cars might get no compensation. They were going for £2500 at the war and peace show a few years ago in mint condition. Edited August 9, 2011 by ack-ack

I'd say that it was a most uncivil disturbance on my claim form. That would do it.
