I wouldn't worry about it yet mate, you will have about 3 or 4 months to ponder that :good: I ordered mine in November 9th last year and it arrived on 7th March B)

If it is a 'standard' stock to them, it shouldn't take that long . .

As for finishing, I would ask them, but as you say oil is a no no, if you go with varnish the best results I have ever got (not on a gunstock) was using yacht varnish, starting with it thinned right down and applying little and often sanding between coats if it needed it. This was on a wooden step in my house that despite heavy use still looks good today :good:

never considered yacht varnish food for thought? a gloss finish would be ok perhaps satin better as the stock is (coloured?) lead time was quoted as 9 weeks according to girl on phone so was hoping for late may early june?

I put a Richard's Microfit 'Tac Driver' on my 17HMR CZ Varmint. I had to wait 4 months! And they still supplied the wrong forend and cheekpiece B)

I did mine with Tru Oil - seemed to turn out pretty good for a first attempt. I wasn't wanting a gloss finish so I went over it gently with fine steel wool before applying the stock sheen and wax polish.
