Well was going to put the basics in my profile but it ended up being a little longer than i thought it might be

as there are many new faces (or at least names) on the forum, i thought it might be a good time to do this post is going to cover the basics of learning to shoot an air rifle, and you know what it doesnt matter what type of air gun you shoot, what power it is, or even the cal.

Some of you will know this information already some of you will not, but i shall share it with you all.

ut i shall start by telling a little bit about me, and how i came to start airgun shooting.

I am a single dad aged 32, I have a daughter who is 7. My first and air gun was a BSA air sporter (no idea the model or type) back in 1989, and all i did with it was plink in the garden, i had no idea baout hold over, i just couldnt hit anything unless i was at my mark shooting at a known distance, so im guessing a lot of people learn like this and get ****** off when they cant hit anything. I then started into airguns again in 2001 when my mother gave me her gunpower stealth (she really is not a normal mother LOL), we then popped along to my local club and unknown to us it was the first month it had reopend after a 3 year close! 2 weeks before that and I know i wouldnt be here now.

So i joined my local club and the rest as they say is history

now on with the post, if your still with it :good:

learning how to shoot airguns is easy, in fact it is so easy you dont even actualy need to have an airgun!!!!

step one

FIND YOUR LOCAL CLUB

step two (many of you have already done this)

JOIN A FORUM, WHERE OTHER LIKE YOU CAN SHARE INFORMATION

step three

ASK AS MANY QUESTIONS AS YOU WANT! THATS HOW WE LEARN

just think about the question before you ask it, Forums liek this are here to benefit our sport, not to bring a shadow over all of us just becasue of a silly question.

If the question turns out to be a silly one and you regret asking it, dont get drawn into a long winded argument, as thats only good for the sales of popcorn and coke :ermm: just go to your first post and delete it, no problem.

since i joined my local club 5 years ago, i have ended up running the thing!!!!! we are not a normal airgun club, in fact i would find it hard to call us a club at all, we have a 2 achre part of a wood with huts and ranges out to 100 yards (NON FAC ONLY!) majority of shooting is done froma bench, but we still have the open fireing points (which i hope to be using in the very near future with a springer im getting ) to me you will learn to shoot at other clubs, but will it be the style you want to learn?

You dont even have to join a club, even if you have land with permision to use your airgun on, if other shooters share the land speak to them, ask them for help and advice, airguns are probably one of the best intorduction rifles in to the realm of shooting sports, any one can do it anywhere!

Even if you just learn by yourself, there are a couple of manuals out there that you can download and print, if anyone wants a direct link i will send it or you can google "BFTA technical skills manual" that should turn them up. All you need if your doing it by yourself, is a quiet part of your shoot, somewhere that you can go for at least one evening a week and just lay as much lead down as possible! At the club I shoot mainly spring powered rifles, but this is becasue i shoot upwards of 500 pellets each day im there!!!!!!

and i got to go out now so will add to this a bit latter watch out for part two!!!!

ROB
