Ghostrider1979
Question time! Which pellets will work best giving maximum performance for hunting with a brocock contour 177?

baconbuttie
Depends on what you're hunting and how far they are away. For an all-round pellet I like AA Field, you'll find the best accuracy by trying a few handfuls of each of the 3 head sizes available. I'm getting good results with RWS Superdomes too, and saving a fair amount with each tin. Don't assume that just because some else recommends a pellet that they are going to work in your airgun. Try them. Anything that hits a 10p at the ranges you set as your max will probably do the job. When you start using them for real watch out for over-penetration with a .177, you want the pellet to deform and do max damage rather than fly straight through. I'm going to be hunting rabbits and maximum distance will be around 30ft.
baconbuttie
I'm going to be hunting rabbits and maximum distance will be around 30ft. 30ft ? 10m ? If that's accurate then you might want to try Bisley Pest Control or BSA Inteceptors, or another hollow or flat headed pellet. They don't go well over about 25m though. UKPoacher
I have Several @ my Club and most seem to be buying Exterminator 9.50's Also sold as Logun Penetrators BOB/R What Clubshot always fails to tell you is that he sells Defiant & Exterminator pellets for his mate's company. I would be very surprised indeed if any majority of air gunners bought these pellets at full price as a poll on here a few months back showed that almost nobody on this forum used them. Check out Penetrators on your gun shop shelves annd note the dust accumulating on the boxes. Don't bother asking for Defiants or Exterminators as they most likely don't sell them. Stick to the tried and trusted brands mate; JSB or Air Arms are my favourites and I don't work for the company

I want something that's going to give a clean kill and not make the rabbits etc suffer to long.
UKPoacher
JSB Exact or AA Field are both very accurate in most guns and have the right qualities for hunting. The most important thing about getting a clean kill is shot placement.
garden gun
placement is all. If you have confidence that your gun will put your preferred pellet where you aim it consistently - one pellet death will follow.
