Filling in the certificate

Hi,

Newbie here so please be gentle. Just got my shotgun cert through the post, my partner got hers a couple of days ago. She bought a gun yesterday - I'm collecting one next Thursday. The FAO said we both need to put each others guns on our Certs as we have a shared cabinet. Do I need to send off a letter to the firearms dept to let them know I have access to her gun or do I just put the gun on the cert and leave it at that?

Also, on the cert, table 2 just seems to deal with transfers and sales - is that where we put the guns we have access to? Reason I ask is column D asks for the name and address of the person selling or transferring - in this case, there would be none. Column E is even more confusing!

Best advice you will EVER GET. Call your local firearms officer tomorrow morning at 9.00am and ignore every reply on here bar this. No one here is your Local Firearms Officer and you need take no risk if you ask them.

The guys on here are excellent but you cant go wrong asking the person that will take your license away if you get it wrong! Common sense.

cheers for that - I was going to ring them anyway, was curious how other people deal with it...

does it differ according to where in the country you are?

It shouldn't but it does. One of the many problems with licensing in the UK!

Good luck with the SGC, try not to spend too much.

If you share a cabinet then you write on each others cert "lent" just like the RFD wrote "sold" when you bought them, NEVER WRITE ON YOUR OWN CERT. You Write on hers the details of your gun when you get it, she writes on yours. Then you both send letter to the police with the details of the guns you have been lent and by whom.

But your FEO will tell you what to do when you ring them...

Have fun, so who's the better shot? And what did you both go for? Is it a pair of His and Hers?

Out of interest - my wife's Certificate is "the same" as mine =

i.e. she OWNS the guns listed on it =

I also OWN the SAME shotguns that listed on mine

:good: simples :good:

also - our three Certs. are all "co-terminus"

( that inc. my FAC on same date  keeps cost down )

reason = if she carries any of 'our' guns in person or in a car - she is 'covered - :D

(and in the untimely death of either of us - we are 'covered' )
