  1. I have 500 .308, 500 .223, 500 hmr and 1500 .22lr on my ticket. To max it out though would cost about £1,500!
  2. I know a couple of people with them and they are very pleased with them. I've been thinking about getting a pair for myself.
  3. sorry, managed to post in the wrong topic. Damned phone!
  4. I've used mine as id at a bank and my dad has used his when catching a flight up to Scotland as his passport was away for a visa.
  5. A change in conditions is different to a variation so you shouldn't have to pay for it.
  6. Just got this reply from my MP, Richard Benyon (Conservative) Thank you for contacting me about the Hunting Act 2004. I appreciate the strong feelings that many people have on this issue. I am aware that, in the last Parliament, a cross-party alliance of MPs and farmers’ groups called for an amendment to the Hunting Act to allow more than two dogs to be used to flush out a fox. The Prime Minister supported this amendment, but there was no agreement between the governing Coalition parties, which would have been necessary for it to be brought before the House. The Prime Minister has said that a majority Conservative Government will give Parliament the opportunity to repeal the Hunting Act on a free vote, with a government bill in government time. In the event of such a vote, I would vote to repeal it. In my judgement the Act has done nothing to protect wild animals and, in many cases, has actually been detrimental to animal welfare when other methods of control are deployed, several of which can be indiscriminate. I do appreciate that many people have strongly held views about hunting. I respect this and that is why the issue has been subject to a free vote for many years. Thank you again for taking the time to contact me. Yours Sincerely Richard Benyon MP
  7. I have an ASE ultra on mine which I find very good. Have a predator wildcat on the .223 which I also think is good but the ASE seemed to balance the rifle better. Tried all the ones in the shop for length and balance
  8. The most memorable dish I've had was rabbit and tarragon pudding that I had at my wedding. I'd shot the rabbits and dropped them off to the chef the day before. I didn't know what he was going to do with them but it was really good. My wife won't eat rabbit so she had something different, that obviously wasn't memorable as I've no recollection of what it was. Also, the same chef did rabbit kebabs which were excellent and I have done at home loads of times. Cubes of rabbit marinated in a thick, sweet soy sauce (can't remember what it's called, I think it's Malaysian as he is), garlic and lime juice then barbecued.
  9. I used to do the same, it's surprising how long these people will try and talk to a babbling 2 year old! In the end I got fed up with it as we were getting loads ever day so I changed the telephone number.
  10. Prvi sp and Remington HP gave the best groups in my .223, no difference except the big one in price. The .308 though didn't like them at all though. Sako 150 gr and winchester 150 gr work but I was hoping the prvi do the job.
  11. I also prefer them to rabbit and have bbq'd them whole and made them into burgers. I was surprised how much meat you get on them. There was just under 8 oz on the last one I made into burgers.
  12. I have my guns on my household insurance policy. None of the are worth more than the single item limit, but if you add the scope, rings etc then it would be. I checked with them if each of these were considered to be single items on their own or because they were boleted together the over all set up was a single item. They came back and said that each peice was an item by itself so came within the limit on my policy therefore didn't need to be quoted on the policy.
  13. I got one a couple of weeks ago with the .22. Made a nice burger. 802
  14. When I was a student away from home I got my SGC and used my parents address as my permanent address. When I started work and was renting they were happy for me to keep my parents address as my permanent address as well. I only changed it when I bought my first house and then bought my first gun.
  15. I was also told to make sure that I stay hydrated so that stools are easier to pass and you're not putting unnecessary pressure on the colon and make the diverticuli worse by forcing the muscles.
  16. I found out I had this last year when I thought I had a bladder infection that wouldn't clear up. Then started having air come out with my pee and then getting bits of solids in my pee as well. None of it hurt though. Turned out that the diverticuli had formed a fistula (a tube) into my bladder and was allowing what was in my colon into my bladder. Ended up with having a foot of my colon removed and being off work for two months. Couldn't lift anything heavier than a dinner plate either which was not good as my son had only just been born and my wife had to look after a 2 year old, a new born and me. Now eat a high fibre diet, take Fybogel everyday and generally avoid seeds where I can. I do still have tinned tomatoes in things like spaghetti bolognaise though. It is apparently very common, especially as you get older but normally doesn't cause any issues and most people don't know they have it. I was 31 when I had the op done and the surgeon said that I was young to have it and very young to have had any issues with it. With a bit of luck I won't have any more problems, though mu guts have not been quite the same since.
  17. I had one slot on my FAC that I only filled after 5 years, just after the renewal.
  18. 2 more. One dog fox after lambs in my parents field and one vixen next to the pen on the shoot 210
  19. Could you post the recipe for this up please. It sounds intriguing.
  20. A mate of my dads did it years ago on boxing day, 8lb gun resting on his foot, 5lb trigger pull!
  21. Me and my wife were told the same thing when we went for the first scan. Waiting for the miscarraige to actually happen was not a good time. It helped us (and I stress that this was our own personal views only) that we were lucky she conceived with no problems and that gave us hope that we would be able to get there again. After the miscarraige it was amazing how many friends and relatives have said they went through the same or similar thing and as wierd as it may sound that also helped as knowing it was common took some of the worry that it may happen again away. It also helped that the chances of a second miscarraige are not increased because there was one before. When my wife became pregnant the second time we were a little apprehensive but luckily we now have an 8 month old and she's fantastic. I think it depends very much on the individual on how you deal with it but we tried to stay positive and look to the future rather than dwelling on it too much, but each person will deal with things differently and I hope you are both ok.
  22. Bisley has a velocity limit of 1000 m/s which I wouldn't have thought would be too difficult to exceed. I asked the to clarify it as on some of their literature they say 1000 m/s and on others it said 3200 ft/s, which is slightly below 1000m/s (3280ft/s). I had some factory ammo (american eagle I think) that had 1000m/s on the side of the box so wanted to know. 23. I get this sometimes on my anchutz .22 when I accidentaly move the bolt slightly up. It is still closed but not fully down then it will fire but not strike the cartridge properly. If the bolt is down fully it works all the time.
  24. What ever is stated in the FAC under the conditions. It just lets you, rather than the police, decide if the ground is safe to be shot over
