MG6065
Hi I'm 16 years old and have recently sent off for my SGC. I have a few airguns at the moment but as far as I'm aware i cannot legally pocess it in a public even if covered etc. as my local gunsmith informed me last time i took my airgun in for its service! As far as I'm aware the SGC will enable me to pocess a shotgun in a public place as long as its covered. Will the SGC enable me to carry a covered airgun in public also or do i still have to be 18? im confused on the matter. Someone please put me straight!? Thankyou. kyska
No, only the shotgun. Airgun laws have nothing to do with SGC laws.
UKPoacher
No, only the shotgun. Airgun laws have nothing to do with SGC laws. That is correct and it applies to adults too. You cannot take an air gun into a public place (coveredd or uncovered) unless you have a good reason such as going to and from your club or land where you shoot. And if you have good reason,it should not be loaded or any magazine loaded
MG6065
Yeah I didn't just mean walking through the street but if I were to walk from my house to shooting land etc. Seems stupid I will be able to be in pocession of a shotgun but not an airgun , I know it's the law and the law must be obeyed just seems like a lack of common sense! It not uncommon sense, you've been vetted and interviewed and have been deemed suitable to use a shotgun. Unfortuantely its the more irresponsible members of the community of your age that have brought this law into effect regarding the airgun, although there are as many over 18 numpties out there but the government would never be able to get an airgun licensing system into place. Its bad luck for you, but as you said law is law....
MG6065
Yeah that's very true , you always get the minorities of scum that give guns a bad name , there's always the minority that ruin stuff for the others, it's a shame because we all get painted with the same brush ! I just find it silly that you can be trusted and deemed responsible with a pump action 12 bore that is capable of firing loads that could kill someone at 50-60 yards but not allowed to pocess a air rifle ! Makes no sense in my opinion ! But as I dont make the laws of Great Britain I suppose Ive got to obey them haha

demonwolf444
you truely forget how stupid some people are, common sence is getting rarer. Whilst on work experience gamekeeping in hampshire, i found an AA field in a deer.
