cmsds
hi guys went out on sunday afternoon ,about 2.30. Found a Pea field which was full of pigeons i put my dead bird decoys out and my new flapper decoy (which i was not overly impressed with)the birds would not decoy, decided after a couple of hours to bring in the new flapper decoy and put out my rotary decoy, well what a difference, i statred shooting at 4.30 and by 7 oclock i had shot 40 birds it was a great couple of hours, hope to repeat this weekend

kippylawkid
Don't give up on your flapper. You get some days that the pigeons just won't decoy - but you had the sense to change your pattern and it came up trumps. Personally, if I had the choice of flapper or whirly I'd take the flapper EVERY time as the whirly can frighten just as much as it attracts. But that's just me. Dr_T
I've found that rotary placement can make a big difference. I'm finding I'm getting best results placing it at the end of one of the arms of the U pattern about 5 yards from the nearest decoy.

I find it best in the next field :yp: I must admit it does seem to work sometimes but find it best to put it far enough in front of the pattern so they are dropping in before they are spooked by it. If I use it as part of the actual pattern, ie, at the front of the V they get so close then just jinx off to the side before they are in the best position to shoot
