Ghostrider1979
Hi guys, Just out of interest I was wondering what you all do when you go out in the field hunting rabbits ie what time you go, what you take, what sort of pattern do you follow, how long you wait in one area If you don't see bunnys. My 3rd hunt is coming up Monday and what I have done on the last 2! Is walk around the edge of the field looking for runs and wait where I see fresh droppings. I carry my 177 brocock concept, some strings, rubber gloves and a knife. Just looking for tips really for when I go out monday for maximum effect. Dexterboyz
deppending on how big the shoot is i tend to find a route that will take around 35mins to do, that way once iv shot one or two and the rest have done one, by the time you get back round they should be back out again. as for kit stick with wot ya doin, go light and basic, pellets, rubber gloves unless ya near running water, string, leaherman or knife, condoms, porn, tissue or nettles if your hardcore!!! happy times :o :o
bruno22rf
Check out the area as the light fades in the evening and determine where the hot spots are-most rabbits will be out by then.Plan your hunt so that you approach these spots with the wind in your face if possible.Put all your hunting gear on at home and walk around-do you make any noise?-the seams on trousers or zips on a jacket can be heard by rabbits from a good distance so sort your kit out. When you are hunting walk at least half your normal pace-I would guess that every time you halve your speed you double your chance of success.Make sure your gun is accurate enough to castrate a gnat at the range you are going to be shooting-if you know its spot on then the confidence you will get is priceless. When the chance of a shot presents itself, try to stay calm-imagine the rabbits head is just a target in the garden and you have all the time in the world-check your breathing and be confident. Dont get peed off if you miss-there's always tomorrow and getting agitated ruins your shooting ability-even if you spend four hours in the countryside and shoot diddly-squat would you have rather sat at home watching Eastenders?
