COLINSRI
Some hand pistols i have seen recently have been lovely guns. I was considering getting one but need to know what power it is legally allowed and also are they just for plinking or can they be used for close range vermin despatch. Cheers Colin
MC
The legal limit for an Air Pistol is 6Ft Lbs. I wouldn't have thought that anything other than point blank range would result in a kill. Stick to your rifle and get to know it inside out. Cheers Martin

Lord Geordie
6 FPE is enough for close range vermin like Rats and Pigeons at a range of about 15 yards I wouldn't personally use on on a rabbit full stop and SURELY not on anything at a greater distance than 10 to 15 yards MAX IF it is ABOVE 6fpe i beleive it's a greater offence than a Rifle being over 12fpe as it falls under the HANDGUN BAN. Best to get it about 5.5fpe and try heavies and lights through it (weigh EVERY pellet before calibrating the chrono) You need to make SURE your under the 6fpe no matter WHAT pellet you use. coupe312
i personal would just not use a pistol, air pistol are designed for plinking with, in my personal opinion i would never use the to even dispatch a animal or bird let alone hunt with one. even a 6ftlb i think 10-15 yard range, plus a high in accuraceys involed with them
COLINSRI
Well I've just bought myself a cp99. Will be with me tomorrow so i'll let you know what i think. Its only 3lb so will not even think about hunting with it. Good for plinking.....oh and pretending to be James Bond when nobody is looking.... On a more exciting note, I got my Tx200 today. Can't wait to get home to check it out.
roblade
you done it again havnt you LOL jumped before you looked, you had a quick peek and then jumped, not the best way to do things. the cp99 is ok if you want to be like james bond, its well made but the trigger leaves a bit to be desired and is very heavy especialy used in double action, single action its not too bad. The best pistol out of the Co2 unmarex clones would have to be the CP88 it has a much nicer feel to it over the others and fits in the hand nicely. Its a shame you didnt wait a little while got a cp88 4" with a pistol case and the blue box it came in, that i was gong to be putting up for 60 quid + postage would have even included some Co2. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT HUNTING WITH PISTOLS! this is way out of order and no where near a good idea with anything Co2, even with a falcon pistol or another close to the limit pistol it is still a bad idea, and i do belive it could well be illegal to do this. and yes the Co2 pistols on a good day can put out 3flbs of energy but on average 2-2.5flbs. next time wait for the views to come in before you decide on somehtign, im suprised you didnt learn your lesson after your other Co2 rifle. ROB I've said this before an i'll say it again. My 'Umarex co2 air magnum' is the ******** . I love it. Its accurate and with 10.5 lbs is powerful for a fun gun. Got my tx200 now which i will use as my hunter. I also like the look of the cp99, thats why i bought it. I'm sure the little gun will be a welcome addition to my now growing collection. I got a fair price and will have lots of 'plinking fun'. May be interested in your hand gun also Rob. Let me know when its up.

Davej
Not a massive amount of difference between cp88 & cp99 I have owned both cp99 slightly heavier yes trigger on 88 a little better but for plinking and fun nothing between them, Chrono both and have pushed 3lb loosing power after long use or rapid fire. Davrian
I wouldn't attempt to hunt anything other than rats with a pistol! Its such a short range weapon and accuracy so far from a rifle you'll never hit the head of a bird with it! Air pistol shooting is generally over 10 yards! that's all! If you try one you'll soon find out that grouping at 10 yards is still difficult. I had a Gamo Compact which at the time was the pistol to have, still very difficult to shoot accurately! I now have the Aniks Skiff 28 shots as fast as I can pull the trigger but that's what its about really, plinking fun! I do have a lot of respect for anyone that can shoot a pistol properly though, A real art.
